Larking About

Is to be in the saddle by 6.30a and ride for an hour before coming into SF. I tell ya, it is the only way to go. The downside is being up at 5a and making it all the way till 6ish at work.

I've been working on teaching El Cid to back up when I slightly move the rope at him while pointing behind him, shaking my finger. Think the tsk tsk movement. Anyway I've only done it with a rope. When I was free longing him tonight and stepped in front of his shoulder to get him to stop, I stood up and shook my finger at him. He backed up. It was AMAZING. I felt really connected to him and that he understood what I was trying to teach him.

Right now, I should be writing something interesting, smart, thoughtful and *#$ for my school project. I'm totally stymied. I have no idea what to write and am sitting here feeling like a dumb (**$@ who can't think her way out of a paper bag.

Of course, my cat is licking my arm so at least she still likes me. I know this is crazy and that I've made it this far but I'm feeling the pressure to perform.

Gah.

Maybe I'll go to bed with a novel instead. :)

This was after our third ride ever on Sunday. I have this week off between jobs and I rode him today too. It was 100 degrees out at the barn and I could only ride for about 30 mins before I thought I'd drop over from heat!

I did see a couple old horse friends at the barn. That was totally cool. I am so happy I made the choice to come back there instead of a new place in Oakland. Whew.

Um... It probably doesn't need a more detailed explanation!

This woman and her young daughter were waiting for the elevator. Girl asked where the elevator was. Mama said they had to wait for one. Girl asked which one Mama? Mama replied: which one do you think? She looked around. One guy pointed to one and I pointed to another and said "that one". Then the doors opened. Cooooool.

It is FRIDAY and we are having tacos from the taco truck! Woot. How can the day be bad with that auspicious start?

Now, I just have to finish and pass that project. One step closer! BOUNCE!

All in all, a great weekend. :D I saw a weasel fight in Pt Reyes at the lighthouse road. There's a whole sequence that is fun to see. :)

Wow.... Finally riding him. Amazing.

My little sister passed her final CPA test! I'm thrilled for her.

It is officially weird to be at home on a Sunday without homework or horse stuff or activities to do. Seriously weird.

Am doing laundry, housecleaning, bill paying, and grocery shopping. I guess that is plenty to do but still not enough...

It has been a fun weekend. However, I was taking care of my landlady's cats and dropped the insulin bottle for her big guy. Of course it broke and I couldn't find more. Man, I hate that kind of stuff. He got his dose for today and yesterday. The way the bottle broke was the bottom came off and some medicine stayed in the bottle's shoulder. I left it upside down in the needle box so at least he can get some tonight without getting a new prescription. I hope the stuff isn't too expensive to replace.

I really like this.

We, the unwilling, lead by the unable, have been doing the difficult for so long with so little, that we are now fully qualified to do the impossible with nothing.
